Briarcliff Manor History
The 232 acre estate of Walter W. Law purchased in 1890 was called Briarcliff Farm. He later acquired a much larger amount of property—roughly 5000 acres and created the development of Briarcliff Manor. It was incorporated as a village in 1902. In 1906, the village annexed Scarborough. The village has been home to Biarcliff College, King’s College, and a campus of Pace University. The construction of the Taconic Parkway spurred development of Briarcliff Manor as a residential community in the 1930s.
